HUMAN ENDOCRINE SYSTEM
- It is a basal part of diencephalon, forebrain.
- Regulates a wide range of body functions.
- Neurosecretory cells produce hormones which regulate synthesis and secretion of pituitary hormones.
- Two types of hormones – releasing and inhibitory
- Releasing Hormones – stimulate secretion of pituitary hormones. E.g. GnRH
- Inhibitory Hormone – inhibits secretions of pituitary hormones. E.g. Somatostatin
