TESTIS

  • Present in scrotal sac of males.
  • Primary function – sex organ and endocrine gland
  • Structure – composed of seminiferous tubules and stromal or intestitial tissue.
  • Leydig cells are present in the intertubular spaces which produce a group of hormones called androgens (testosterones).
  • Androgens – regulate development, maturation and functions of male accessory sex organ, stimulate muscular growth, growth of facial and axillary hair, aggressiveness, low pitch of voice.
