Triangle in Same base & parallel

Theorem 3: Two triangles on the same base (or equal bases) and between the same parallels are equal in area.

In the figure above, ΔABC & ΔABE are on same base AB & between same parallels AB || EC, thus

ar(ΔABC) = ar(ΔABE).

Converse Theorem 4: Two triangles having the same base (or equal bases) and equal areas lie between the same parallels.

In the figure above, ΔABC & ΔABE are on same base AB & have equal area ar(ΔABC) = ar(ΔABE).

 Thus these two triangles have to be between same parallels AB || EC.
